Beach bag must-haves for redheads

Ginger Parrot is ready and raring to report on all…
“Alexa, play any song by ‘The Beach Boys’”
We are getting summer and vacation ready over here! For anyone else who has a fun trip to the beach planned, whether that is overseas or here at home – this one is for you!
There are many beach bag must-haves, but this is the redhead edition.
Sarong:

Up first is a sarong. A sarong is handier than you think. A sarong is extremely versatile and can be tied in so many ways! It can be used as a skirt, a beach blanket, a dress, and is great for shoulder coverage, and as a redhead, you know you need that coverage.
Sunglasses with UV protection:

Sunglasses not only look great, but they are also necessary when protecting your eyes from sun damage. So, make sure you pack a pair of sunglasses that have been labelled with their guaranteed UV ray protection.
To protect your eyes from UV damage, it’s essential to wear sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays, as well as a wide-brimmed hat when spending time outdoors. Which brings us to our next redhead essential…
Sun hat:

Obviously we don’t want to risk our faces getting burned, or even worse…our hair and scalp becoming damaged from the sun.
You really want to avoid those pesky UV rays harming your face, also considering that UV rays accelerate skin aging by causing wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and sagging skin, too.
A sun hat that covers your shoulders is ideal, but a cap or bucket hat will work too!
Get a hat that is a neutral/basic colour so that it coordinates with all your other holiday clothing. It’s a redhead must-have every day of your summer holiday, so make it versatile.
High SPF sunscreen:

High sun protection is key for any fair redhead, it won’t surprise you to hear! Make sure that you have a high SPF sun cream on you at all times this summer. (And really, year-round actually)
No matter what skin type you have, no matter what race you are, everyone should be lathering themselves in SPF. It’s important to remember that UV rays can not only reach your skin through clouds and on overcast days, but some of them can also penetrate windows.
Also, remember to reapply throughout the day. Just because you select a high SPF doesn’t mean you can avoid reapplication – it’s crucial for adequate sun protection.
Beach cover-up:

A beach cover up will also protect you from the UV rays. But note that a beach cover up will only protect you from the sun to a certain extent. UV rays can reach your skin through clothing, and beach cover ups are always made from thin material!
A big linen white shirt will do, just make sure that your shoulders are covered!
If you are going to mix and match your outfits, a neutral/basic coloured one will do. Again, avoid patterns…. Unless you are going to bring more than one cover up away with you that is.
Book for reading in the shade:

Some people bring a book to the beach and never end up reading it…so if you are like me and always get distracted by the sand, the sea, the people, the food, or the drinks on the beach, then why not buy a book that is all about redheads!
The Big Redhead Book: Inside the Secret Society of Red Hair written by Erin La Rosa offers an accurate glimpse into life as a ginger. The book also follows the history of redheads, and includes hilarious words from the author and illustrations, charts, and lists to keep you entertained. I am sure that you will not be able to put it down!
MC1R magazine:

If you are not so much a novel lover, then why not bring a magazine to the beach! Magazines are so much fun and are perfect for leisurely reading.
MC1R magazine is swamped with images of iconic redheads and short pieces to read – brilliant for short spells in the shade under a big umbrella.
Big water bottle:
Last but definitely not least: hydration, hydration, hydration! Bring a big water bottle down to the beach so that you can worry less about sun stroke. These water bottles, that have time stamps on, are a great way for you to monitor how much water you should be drinking!
All of these items are easy to find, because they really are the basics, and you probably have some of them at home already! After that, all that is left to do now is to grab your favourite beach bag and head down to the beach!
