Perfect holiday destinations for redheads
When people think of vacation, their mind jumps straight to hot beaches and a pina colada in the sun. We often forget that going to any new place, meeting different people and exploring new cultures is all part of a “vacation”. It’s not all about being afraid to step out in to the sun.
So, allow us to introduce to you a list of holiday destinations that are perfect for redheads.
Scotland:
First up, and we hate to state the obvious, but it is Scotland.
Scotland, known for its large population of gingers, has luscious, green landscapes and a vibrant culture that can be a wonderful destination for redheads.
The nation is also home to historic castles and a cooler climate which can act as relief for those sensitive to the sun.
Redheads will fit right in.
Canada:
People often miss Prince Edward Island when they travel to Canada. The island is known for its red sand beaches – yes, it’s like the beaches carry the MC1R gene too!
Prince Edward Island also offers cooler summers and stunning landscapes, making it the perfect location for redheads who know how to appreciate a good view.

Ireland:
When redheads go abroad, they can often feel like everyone is looking at them and their beacon of red hair. But, similar to Scotland, Ireland also boasts a large redhead population. According to researchers, more than 10% of the Irish population has red hair, so any redhead would make a perfect addition!
Ireland also offers beautiful landscapes, hidden and picturesque villages, and plenty of outdoor activities – including hiking, abseiling, kayaking and rowing.
If you are a big fan of “pub grub”, food served in a pub, your stomach will have a field day in Ireland – famous for its “Irish pubs”!

New Zealand:
Similar to Ireland, New Zealand would make for a perfect holiday for redheads who love outdoor pursuits. But this time, the adventures will be bigger and some may find them better.
With its diverse scenery of beaches and mountains, to forests and community towns, New Zealand offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures: think bungee jumping, skydiving, zip-lining, surfing, mountain biking, hiking.
The cooler climate in certain regions can also make redheads feel more relaxed and sun safe – this is a holiday after all.
Japan:
While cherry blossom season in Japan is not typically associated with redheads, during this time, the country is filled with different shades of red.
Regions of Japan, like Kyoto, are known for their stunning views of red and gold foliage during this season – making Japan a perfect destination for redheads who wear red and gold foliage on their heads all year round!
