I know I’m not the only restless fool in the world who regularly attempts to grow out their hair and gets bored waiting for it to get to Ariel the mermaid length.
If you are just like me, heed some advice: don’t just do a panic cut and yell at your hairdresser “JUST TAKE IT ALL” and then sit in a pool of your cut off tresses and weep.
Instead, you should go to the hair salon with a little direction and inspiration. Basically, a clue of how you want it to look would be a great start.
So save yourself a mental breakdown. Here are five beautiful red-haired ladies from film and TV to inspired your new haircut. You’re welcome, champs.
1. Molly Ringwald – The Breakfast Club
Molly, the princess who plays Claire in The Breakfast Club, rocks out a gorgeous ear length ginger bob, and it wouldn’t be the 80s without outrageous amounts of volume and hairspray.
It’s a bold look, but it looks effortlessly cool and natural.
2. Christina Hendricks – Mad Men
Feel like channelling your inner 60s goddess? Don’t we all, like, every day. But if only we had the right hair style… WELL WE CAN HAVE IT.
Joan Harris, the office schlep with secret marketing powers has that incredible curled updo, so if you’ve got a fancy dress night or a ball to go to, this weave is just the way to go.
3. Isla Fisher – The Great Gatsby
If you want to get your flapper on, then do the Myrtle…Wilson that is. Isla Fisher’s slightly unstable character in The Great Gatsby has hair to match the personality: wildly red, curly and high.
For this look, get your hair chopped to the bottom of your neck then get those curlers in, decorating it with a headscarf or any bejewelled clips you can find.
4. Little Orphan Annie
Ever a style icon (eeeeerrrrr…yeah, sure.) Annie’s little ‘fro is one for the ages. It doesn’t look that bad…right?
5. Bryce Dallas Howard – Jurassic World
I know we’re a little premature with this one since the film hasn’t even wrapped yet, but Bryce Dallas Howard’s look is so fabulous.
We predict that the straight ginger bob that BDH is rocking in Jurassic World will definitely be a style that hairdressers will get sick of repeating.
It’ll be the new Rachel-from-Friends look in no time. So get ahead of the trend and don some rad combat boots with this ‘do and start hunting some raptors, yeah? Cool.
