13 ways to style a bandana

It goes without saying, that bandanas are extremely versatile items and are the perfect accessory for festival goers. Bandanas can be tied to a pair of shorts, jeans, or even bags, to elevate a festival look. Bandanas can also be tied into tops, and in SO many different ways on your head!

Bandana Hair Styles

The classic headband:

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.  

Step 2: Place the centre of the rectangle towards the front of your head, like a headband. 

Step 3: Tie the two ends of the bandana at the back of your head, so that it is hidden underneath your hair. 

1950s Paris:

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite.

Step 2: Tie the two bottom corners of the triangle under your chin, to create a hooded look. This chic look looks great with a pair of sunglasses!  



The bow:

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.  

Step 2: Place the centre of the rectangle at the back of your head, and underneath your hair or ponytail.

Step 3: Tie the two ends of the bandana on the top of your head. Make sure that it is tied slightly towards the front of your head, and in the centre. 

Classic bandana style:

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite.

Step 2: Place the triangle flat on your head, so that the two bottom corners evenly hang down each side of your face. 

Step 3: Fold the bottom corners of the triangle at the back of your neck, so that it goes over the top of your ears.  making sure the tie is covered by your hair or ponytail. 

Ponytail bandana:

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.  

Step 2: Tie the bandana around the hairband that is keeping your ponytail in place.

Bun bandana:

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.  

Step 2: Tie the bandana around the hairband that is keeping your bun in place.

Bandana Accessory Chic 

Parisian Necktie

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.

Step 2: Tie the bandana around your neck, making sure the tie is resting at the side of your neck (not in the middle).  

Western vibes

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite.

Step 2: Hold the triangle upside down by the the two bottom corners.

Step 3: Tie the two bottom corners at the back of your neck, leaving an upside-down triangle to be seen at the front of your neck. 

Bandana on Jeans/Shorts

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.  

Step 2: Tie the bandana onto one of the belt loop holes of your jeans/shorts.

Bag bandana 

Step 1: Fold the bandana over and over from one side to the side directly opposite, until it looks like a long rectangle shape.

Bandana Top Styles

Saving the best until last! If your Bandana is large enough to reach around your upper body, you will be able to turn it into three different styles of top!

Style 1 (displayed in image above):

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite.

Step 2: Tie the two bottom corners of the triangle at the top of your back, but below your arms. The top should look like an upside-down triangle on the front!

Style 2: 

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite.

Step 2: Tie the two bottom corners of the triangle around your front, so that it is knotted in the centre of your chest. Make sure that you adjust the tie at the front to make sure that everything is fully covered!

This design should look like Style 1 but backwards!

Style 3 (slightly harder):

Step 1: Fold the bandana into a triangle, by putting one corner diagonally over the corner that is diagonally opposite. 

Step 2: Tie the peak point of the tringle to a necklace (make sure it is tied tight so that it does not fall down!).

Step 3. Tie the remaining two corners of the bandana at the back to create a halter neck and backless style top! 

As you now know, transforming a bandana into a top, accessory, or head band, is pretty easy! Next time you pack for a vacation or a festival, be sure to pack a bandana to create many different looks!
