Fashion: Staple pieces for Spring 2023

We’ve all been told what we should and shouldn’t wear. We have all been advised on which colours suit the copper shade of our red hair, and which items completely clash – but usually this advice is given to us by someone other than a fellow ginger.
Sustainable fashion is all anyone is speaking about this spring – everyone wants to invest in a wardrobe filled with timeless pieces that can be reused for any occasion. Here are some must-have items, that will make sure you’re the best dressed in the room this season! These pieces will help to save money, and the environment all in due course.
A basic vest. Basic and boring? No. These vests from Zara are made from a soft foam-like material that can be manipulated into two separate items. The vests can be worn the “right way”, where the scoop neckline appears at the front, or they can be worn back-to-front. When worn backwards, the vest creates a “tank top” look from the front and creates a flattering low back look, as the scoop neck now lands on the back. You can find these vests in six different colours that each compliment your red hair. Royal blue, a deep beige, black, khaki green, white, and brown.

The next item that is a must-have item for any wardrobe, is an oversized shirt. An oversized shirt makes a statement on its own, with a couple of buttons undone on both the top and bottom – matched with a pair of basic denim jeans. However, for a more celebratory occasion, a large shirt is also extremely flattering as a dress. This timeless piece can also be reused again, and worn as a cover-up on the beach in summer! The colours of shirts that will be most versatile and complimentary to your red locks are: all the tones of green, yellow, blue, white, and pink.
The most affordable and sustainable way to find a cheap oversized shirt is to search the men’s section in any charity shop!

Blazer… Blazer… Blazer… Casual or not, a blazer is the way to go. Wearing an oversized blazer is a great way to avoid any breeze this spring. A blazer can be paired with denim jeans, mini skirts, maxi skirts, suit trousers, leggings, and even jogging bottoms. The ginger queen herself, Stacey Dooley, constantly rocks some sort of tracksuit topped with a large blazer as her go-to outfit. To make a statement, you could wear more of a colour popping piece. To really show off your ginger hair this could be, red, pink, or a bright royal blue. Again, the best way to find a bargain-priced blazer, is to search the men’s section of your local charity shop.

And for your bottoms, grab yourself a pair of black suit trousers to make a staple statement. Wide leg suit trousers are really in right now, and not only that, but they are as versatile as trousers get. You can wear these with a shirt and blazer to your next work meeting, or just to grab a coffee with your pals.

Another staple bottom is a pair of classic blue denim jeans. Popular since the 80s, a pair of wide leg denim jeans can make any outfit appear subtle and casual, or even dressy – when paired with a heel. Swap your black denim jeans for blue this spring, to elevate your outfit and to add a pop of colour to your fits!
