Of all the natural features redheads get to boast about (and there are many to choose from), freckles is one of the most beautiful.
But using a foundation that’s too heavy can hide your freckles, and can even change the colour of your freckles, too – ever noticed the greyish colour they turn after applying liquid foundation? Not good if you have rather a lot of freckles to brag about.
What you need is something lighter than foundation if you want the natural beauty of your freckles to shine through as much as possible.
Of course, you could go as far as painting on your freckles with an eyebrow pencil, but we thought it would make more sense to learn how to emphasise your natural freckles without painting them on.
Liquid foundation is particularly heavy on your skin and will cover up your freckles more than you’d like. Foundation is made to cover your skin, after all.
Instead, try BB cream, tinted moisturiser or foundation powder, which all offer coverage without being too heavy.

Go for a pink or coral shade. The key with blusher for redheads is to pick a shade that is nowhere near to the shade of your freckles.
And whatever you do, don’t hit the bronzer. It may be tempting as you may feel fairly bare-faced without full foundation coverage, but just say no. Otherwise, it’ll look like your freckles are starting to join up!

Of course, the other option is to not wear make-up at all. Freckles are youthful, unique and cute, so we should cherish every last one of them.
Top tip: any products containing glycolic and azelaic acids in them can even out skin tone and consequently fade freckles in the long-term.
