Wear ‘hibiscus rose’ for Roodharigendag 2023
Roodharigendag, which translates to ‘Redhead Day’, is possibly the most famous ginger celebration of all!
This summertime festival is held in Tilburg, Netherlands. The festival focuses on art, lectures, music, and demonstrations connected to red hair. There is a campsite available for families and guests, who can relax and eat delicious foods together. The festival usually holds over 40,000 guests – with redhead attendees encouraged to wear the same colour each year.
For 2023, the colour is ‘hibiscus rose’.
Hibiscus rose is a blend of dusty pink and purple. Now, some people may have a love-hate relationship with pink, but fashion experts do say that purple and pink hues surprisingly suit redheads!
Wearing purple while having red hair is a contrasting but eye-catching combination, and that is why we have seen so many famous redheads strut down the red carpet in the most perfect purple attire!
Just a quick google will make you fall in love any shade of purple. Have a look at Christina Hendricks, Jessica Chastain, Bella Thorne, Emma Stone, and of course… Daphne from Scooby Doo!
As for famous redheads who will inspire you to wear pink, just take a look at Nicole Kidman, Lindsay Lohan, Julianne Moore, and of course the one and only Madelaine Petsch – AKA Cheryl Blossom in Riverdale.
So, at this event you are expected to arrive in a hibiscus rose t-shirt – for the famous group photo of course!
But how did the famous group photo start?
The Roodharigendag festival was founded by the Dutch artist Bart Rouwenhorst, who advertised his need for ginger models back in 2005. Instead of the 15 he asked for, 150 redheads volunteered. The group took part in a photoshoot, and for years later, the tradition continued… There you have it! Roodharigendag!
