Coming soon: ‘Frank of Ireland’, starring ginger brothers Brian and Domhnall Gleeson

We love it when families come in the tinge of ginge, and the Gleesons are one that is well-known in the acting world. Headed by Brendan Gleeson (Calvary, In Bruges, Harry Potter), who fathered both Brian and Domhnall, it’s a ginger clan to the core.

Domhnall Gleeson has already made a name for himself in Hollywood hits like Ex Machina, Star Wars and About Time, and now he stars in upcoming comedy series Frank of Ireland alongside his brother Brian.

Brian plays the lead character of Frank, a 32-year-old who lives in Dublin with his mother. The synopsis reads: “He’s a self-proclaimed musician with a tenuous hold on reality, and hasn’t written a song or played a gig in years. His ex-girlfriend Áine has just found a new boyfriend, and Frank may be finding that a tad difficult.

“Luckily, Frank has a loyal best friend, Doofus, (Domhnall Gleeson) whose full-time job is clearing the debris left in Frank’s wake.

“Set in an idyllic suburb of Dublin, Frank of Ireland is the hilarious story of a man’s hapless search for respect, as he struggles to grow up and get his life together, and hopefully not burn everything to the ground in the process.”

The six half-hour episodes of Frank of Ireland will air in the UK on Channel 5 on 15 April, and will land on Amazon Prime in the US, Canada and Australia on 16 April 2021. Check out the trailer below!
