Review: Ginger Skincare products for redheads

Advertorial

Being of the sensitive-skinned variety of redhead, I’m often on the hunt for skincare products that are natural and calming for my delicate pale shell. Finding something to alleviate my dry and tight skin can be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

I’m not alone with this problem. Here at Ginger Parrot we often hear from redheads with similar skin woes: redness, dryness and tightness all dominate the complaints. What should a redhead do?

Enter our new best friends Ginger Skincare, the first all-natural skincare brand designed for redheads. All of their ingredients are 100% natural and vegan, and are organic where possible, with everything sourced from an urban farm with a zero carbon footprint. Absolutely nothing about their products is chemical; there are no parabens, no silicones, no phthalates, no sulphates, no petroleum, no formaldehyde donors, no harsh preservatives, and no artificial colours.

I know what you’re thinking: “Give it to me already!” I felt the same way, so I thought I’d try it out. I worked through Ginger Skincare’s red wine cleanser, red rose toner, serum, moisturiser and sunscreen.

Red Wine Cleanser

Have you ever felt actually squeaky clean? I swear my skin actually squeaked after using this product. Its consistency is lovely and creamy, and not drying in any way. My skin felt refreshed and red-y to face the day ahead!

Also, the red wine smell is wonderfully fruity and sweet.

Ingredients: red wine extract, green tea extract, chamomile, cucumber

Red Rose Hydrating Toner

I know what’s happened. I’ve died and gone to Heaven, and Heaven is a spa, covered in rose petals, and feels as soft as silk. The red rose elements of this toner are just divine.

As if I wasn’t squeaky clean enough already, this toner is the cherry on top. I usually struggle with toners making my skin feel tight, particularly as I’ve just cleansed too, but not with this. My skin is silky soft and so so sweet.

Ingredients: sea kelp, chamomile, rosewood

Vitamin C Serum

It’s like going through a fruit bowl of flavours! I love the difference in scent between all of these products – this one is more citrusy.

I usually have a bit of redness after cleansing and toning but this serum has calmed it right down. My skin appears to be brighter too, more glowing, and I know that’s down to the vitamin C ingredient, which is known to calm down raised or broken capillaries to give a more even skin tone.

Ingredients: vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, squalane

Calming Moisturiser

Another treat for my senses! As soon as I apply this thick yet lightweight cream to my face my skin squeals with joy. The moisturiser is absorbed into the skin at a remarkable rate and my face straight away feels hydrated and firm.

Ingredients: matrixyl, vitamin E, grape see, wild mushroom, chamomile

Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30

And what do redheads need more than anything else? S. P. F. Even if you ignore the incredible pain that sunburn inflicts on you, it’s said that 90% of all skin damage, including fine lines and wrinkles, can be linked directly to sun damage, so sun protection should be a key part of your daily skincare routine.

Unlike most high-SPF sunscreens that can feel heavy and extremely sticky for about a milllllllion years after applying, the consistency of this product is lightweight and, somehow, refreshing. It’s light enough to put it on before applying make-up.

It’s SPF 30 and protects against UVA and UVB rays (very important), which is ideal for redheads and is the ultimate sweet spot of sunscreen. High enough to protect effectively, but low enough to know you need to reapply regularly.

Ingredients: zinc oxide, titanian dioxide, peptides, avocado seed, grape seed
