London Theatre Week: What’s on?

London Theatre Week is here!

London Theatre Week is literally a week for bargain hunters and theatre lovers. From musicals to regular shows, London has it all.

For a limited time only, you will find tickets ranging from just £15 to £45.

Nothing beats watching a show in the West End!

Ironically, London Theatre Week isn’t just over the course of seven days. The event runs from February 19 to March 3 – so you still have time to book your tickets!

So, if you are visiting London for a limited time only, it really has been your lucky day (all 13 of them).

But before you book your seats, wait!

We need to add some ginger spice to your theatre trip…

Allow us to recommend a bunch of shows and tell you exactly how they relate to redheads:

Wicked! – From £25

As you may have noticed, witches often appear in films and TV shows as… Yes, you guessed it, redheads.

During the witch trials, which were held throughout the 1400s, the 1500s and the 1600s, many redheads were burned at the stake! Ginger men got off lightly, considering it was all about the persecution of redheaded women – well done guys

In fact, around 60,000 women were burned at the stake. This happened in many areas of the UK, particularly in the North.

This musical not only boasts a spectacular soundtrack, but it does so much more than that. It changes the narrative for redheads. For once, the Wicked Witch of The West is not ginger!

The Lion King – From £35

If you have never seen a Disney film that has been whipped up and turned into a West End musical, then let me tell you… You need to go!

Spoiler Alert!

One of the most memorable parts of the film, and probably the most emotional moment, was when Mustafa gets killed by Scar.

Mustafa is the king of the jungle, loved my many – especially his son Simba. Not only that, but Mustafa is also loved by many redheads. Mustafa has a huge ginger mane.

When Simba grows up and finally avenges his father’s death and becomes reunited with his mother, like his father, Simba also has a giant ginger mane.

Frozen – From £32.50

Of course, Elsa is seen as literal royalty amongst young Frozen fans. But for us redheads, we know that Anna is the real queen!

Okay, okay! Olaf is great too, how could we forget about Olaf!

Ironically, Anna is a redheaded princess – the younger sister of Queen Elsa.

Throughout British history, there have been many redheaded royals. From Queen Elizabeth I and Henry VIII to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry, we know that the MC1R gene really runs through the monarchs in England!

Les Misérables – From £28

First of all, for so many people, it is a dream to see Les Misérables on stage.

But come on, can you imagine watching Les Mis on stage at a discounted price? Yes please!

If that’s not enough to make you book your tickets ASAP, what about the master of the house.

Not only is ‘Master of the House’ one of the catchiest songs to appear in the musical, but it is also sang by the redheaded master of the house.

The master of the house is the owner of a dark and dingy boozer. The cheeky redhead enjoys getting his punters drunk so he can ‘pick a pocket or two’ – that’s an Oliver reference, I know!

Shrek – From £15

Shrek, the musical.

If it isn’t already obvious, you should go and watch this film to see Shrek fall in love with Princess Fiona right in front of your eyes!

Princess Fiona is great for many reasons, she is strong, independent, and resilient. But most of all, she is a redhead!

After one romantic night with Shrek, the newlyweds welcome not just one, but three ginger babies!

The King and I – From £25

The King and I is all about Anna, a redheaded schoolteacher who is hired by the monarchy to help the wives and children of the stubborn King Mongut of Siam.

Without giving too much away, the King and Anna don’t get on very well… at the beginning.

Anna is an intelligent redhead who wants to modernise the country -why wouldn’t you want to watch?

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – From £30

When a redhead thinks of the Harry Potter series, only one thing should come to their mind… The Weasleys!

The Weasleys are quite possibly the most famous redheaded family of all time. Yes, each and every one of them boasts a head of orange locks.

They are a funny family who value their relationship with others over money and other luxuries.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child brings us back to Hogwarts many years later, where we meet the sons of Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass, Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Kathy and Stella Solve A Murder! – From £23

Kathy and Stella are best friends who deliver a weekly true-crime podcast from Kathy’s mum’s garage. However, they are the hosts of Hull’s least successful true-crime podcast.

Kathy and Stella Solve A Murder is a Scottish production, so of course, it features a redhead!

Stella is a hilarious redhead who enjoys red hair and loves to make jokes about herself.

If you’re watching this Scottish duo then I can’t guarantee that you will solve a murder case, but you will have a laugh!
