If you had to imagine your perfect person, what attributes would you give them?
They would be a redhead. Right?
Well, that is definitely the case in Ruby Sparks, a new film about young novelist Calvin, who is struggling with writers block – as well as his love life.
And, to bring focus to his writing, Calvin advised to write about a girl, so he creates a character named Ruby. The words suddenly flow, and it turns out, Calvin is an even better writer than first imagined, because his new-found addiction to his fictional character turns Ruby in to a real person, played by Zoe Kazan.
A real person, might I add, who is ginger. *waves the ginger flag with pride*
Let’s be honest, if a guy had to imagine his ideal girlfriend, she’d be a redhead. Absolutely.
Aside from the obviously ginger jubilation at this, the movie itself looks both hilarious and heartwarming.
Written by Zoe Kazan herself, the young spirit of the happy-go-lucky couple of sure to make us fall in love with the talented and varied cast, also including Paul Dano as Calvin, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, and other ginger Deborah Ann Woll.
From the energetic and gingerful trailer, I’m expecting something along the lines Eternal of the Spotless Mind, because the movie looks like it could be both a giggle and a sob-fest. Either way, we’ll definitely watch the film; it’ll probably make us weep, but who cares? With Ruby’s rub-red hair, what could be better?
Check out the trailer for Ruby Sparks above, and you can catch the full movie from 12th October in the UK.
