It’s hard not to notice Rihanna’s bright tomato-red mane that she recently donned, which has popularly been dubbed ‘Rihanna Red’. And let’s be honest, as much as she’s not a natural redhead, we sort of love it. It’s daring, it’s different…wicked.
And we’re not the only ones. A teenage pupil, Terri Bancroft, loved Rihanna’s hair so much, she copied the shade.
But can you believe it? The 15-year-old’s choice of hue got her excluded from her school classroom! She was told that she couldn’t return to lessons until her hair was dyed back to her natural colour.
The excitement in all this, is that @rihanna broadcast her support of Terri’s choice, tweeting to 18 million followers: “‘U are my hero Terry Bancroft!!!!! The color of your hair doesn’t change who u are, you are an A grade student #1love.”
Well, well, well. Of course you can imagine that Rihanna got herself a bit of stick for supporting this rebellious behaviour.
But all was okay in the end. Despite Terri’s exclusion, she was only off school for a week. She had her hair dyed back to dark brown so that she could continue with her exams. In fact, hairdressers at Cruze Hairdressing Salon dyed Terri’s hair for free after all the commotion.
Russell Owen, owner of Cruze, said: “Reading the story, we thought it was a pity she was missing out on her education. We thought it would be a good thing to do to offer our service for free.”
Isn’t that nice? Or rather, not so nice that Terri is no longer on Team Redhead, but at least her education is in tact.
