Do all redheads look alike? We think that every last of you is unique, whether strawberry blonde, auburn, or a mix of both. These are some people who generalise, however, with two redheads in Hollywood in particular who people just can’t tell apart: Amy Adams and Isla Fisher.
Amy Adams in American Hustle
Isla Fisher in Wedding Crashers
Both actresses made notable arrivals into Hollywood around the same time, with Amy Adams in Catch Me If You Can and Isla Fisher in Scooby Doo. And, granted, both Amy and Isla have a similar dyed red hair shade (sorry to burst the bubble for those who thought they were natural gingers). So, perhaps we can forgive you if at first glance you think you’re seeing double.
In a turn of event, Tom Ford’s upcoming film, Nocturnal Animals, will acknowledge this confusion by starring both actresses. Just to confuse you even further. The film is described as ‘a story within a story’, following Susan (Amy Adams), who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband Tony (Jake Gyllenhaal). The manuscript story follows an alter-universe-type version of Tony and Susan’s married life, with the story version of Susan played by Isla Fisher.
Tom Ford told Entertainment Weekly: “Isla’s character, as the wife of the inside story, represents Amy’s character, so I was thrilled that I got to cast both of them.”
Nocturnal Animals is based on book ‘Tony and Susan’ by Austin Wright, and is Tom Ford’s second feature film following the 2009 release of A Single Man. Nocturnal Animals is set for release in November 2016 and you can check out the trailer above!
Are you annoyed that Isla Fisher and Amy Adams (and thus, potentially all redheads) will be compared in this film, or is it a quirky way to address their similarities for the purpose of the storyline? Before we know it, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain will be playing twins! Actually, that would be pretty amazing.
