Green-eyed, fair-skinned and passionately minded, Demelza Carne is the epitome of the redhead stereotype – but in a totally good way. Beautiful and determined, the starring female of BBC’s Poldark is a force to be reckoned with, and an excellent role model for little redheads everywhere.
Now in its second season, Poldark is back on our TV screens following an overwhelmingly popular first season in 2015. Once again, we’ll follow the turbulent journeys of Ross Poldark and Demelza Carne, who’ve come a long way since being a war veteran and a kitchen maid.
Fiery redhead Demelza is played by Eleanor Tomlinson, who is a dyeing redhead for the role. She talked to Metro about having ginger hair for the series: “I’d never done a role with red hair and I really wanted Demelza to be different from anything I’d done. She’s a feisty individual and her hair really matches her character.
“I’m a natural blonde but I love what red hair does for me – it really has an impact on your personality. It makes me feel more confident and daring.”
We can only agree whole-heartedly, Eleanor!
Poldark season two begins on BBC1 at 9pm on Sunday 4th September. Check out the trailer for season two below.
