Music Review: Katy B, ‘Little Red’

Music Review: Katy B, ‘Little Red’

After what felt like an eternity of eagerly awaiting the release of Katy B’s second studio album ‘Little Red,’ I was finally able to get my hands on it on 3rd February.

If I’m entirely honest, I wasn’t overly successful in containing my squeals of excitement while the album was downloading from iTunes – it’s understandable, I mean, as it’s been almost three years since the release of Katy’s last studio album ‘On a Mission’ and two years since the release of her ‘Danger’ EP.

Also, I’m pretty darn certain that the album takes its name from Katy’s gloriously bright ginger hair shade.

Katy B - Little Red Review

Album downloaded, speakers in, dancing shoes on and – play. I was immediately mesmerised by the electronic dance vibes against the smooth simplicity of the redhead’s voice.

It was impossible to sit still and even more difficult to stop listening – all in all this album provides quite the workout! In the words (or lyrics) of Katy herself from ‘5am’ “My feet won’t stop, I can’t keep still.”

And that’s not all. This ginger goddess’s talent and continuous success has led to her domination of the UK album charts already! Only two weeks into the release of ‘Little Red’ and it has already claimed its place on the throne as number one – the first of Katy’s albums to do so.

I have no doubt that ‘Little Red’ deserves its place at number one, overtaking Ellie Goulding’s ‘Halcyon’ as well as Beyoncé’s self-titled album.

Katy B’s music is fresh, exciting and energetic, displaying a range of emotion while simultaneously providing the perfect dance track to keep you on your feet… till 5am.

For a true lover of music and all things gingerful, it would be a sin to miss out on this latest from Katy B!
